Ashley Valenzuela-Carrington was named Coordinator of the Early Learning Center, Waldorf, in 2024. She graduated from Bowie State University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Special Education. She returned to Bowie State University to earn her Master of Education in Elementary Education. Mrs. Carrington went on to attend Trinity Washington University where she earned her endorsements in School Administration and a specialist field for Pupil Personnel Worker.

Mrs. Carrington began her teaching career at T.C. Martin Elementary School in 2010 as a pre-kindergarten special education teacher. During her time at T.C. Martin, she also taught first grade. In 2015, Mrs. Carrington was named as T.C. Martin’s Exemplary Employee of the Year. Mrs. Carrington moved into an assistant principal role at Walter J. Mitchell Elementary School in 2018. In 2023, Mrs. Carrington was named Charles County Public Schools Assistant Principal of the Year. She continued to serve the Walter J. Mitchell community until the opening of the Early Learning Center in Waldorf in 2024.

Christopher Hawkins joined the Early Learning Center in 2025 as an administrative intern, bringing over a decade of experience in education. He began his teaching career in 2012 as a first-grade teacher and joined Charles County Public Schools in 2015 as a fifth-grade teacher. In addition to his classroom responsibilities, Mr. Hawkins served on the school leadership team for five years, where he helped implement new school initiatives, mentored new teachers, and acted as a liaison between the district’s Professional Learning Teams and school staff. He also led the fifth-grade and intermediate-grade teams, coordinating field trips, schoolwide programs, academic incentives, and student celebrations.

Mr. Hawkins earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Peru State College and a Master of Science in Educational Transformational Leadership from Towson University. He also holds graduate-level certificates in Administration and Autism Studies. As he steps into educational leadership, he brings a deep commitment to inclusive practices, student achievement, and a collaborative school culture. Mr. Hawkins believes effective leadership is rooted in trust, shared vision, and empowering others. His goal is to lead with empathy, listen with intention, and foster an environment where every student and staff member feels seen, valued, and supported.
