Our Center
History
The Early Learning Center, Waldorf (ELC, Waldorf) will open at the start of the 2024-2025 school year. It is located at 3155 John Hanson Drive.
The ELC, Waldorf is part of Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) focus to expand early education access to more families and also fulfill the early childhood education requirement found in the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future legislation. One of the pillars of the Blueprint is the expansion of early childhood education program access. By expanding access to high-quality early education programs, CCPS is preparing more students for school readiness.
The prekindergarten program at the center is the same as those held in CCPS elementary schools with students completing the program and advancing to kindergarten at their zoned school. To be considered for a prekindergarten space, the child's family must meet income eligibility requirements to apply and live in Charles County.
ELC, Waldorf has space for 150 students and will have 12 classes that consist of the following:
Early Pre-K
- One class attending half-day (AM or PM), two days a week.
PreK-3
- Eight full-day classes.
- Six inclusion classes.
- Three classes dedicated for students with special needs.
PreK-4
- One full-day class for students with special needs.
